Adult Literacy Tutoring: Learners

The Corona Public Library's Corona Adult Literacy Services (CALS) program serves community members by providing free tutoring in basic reading, writing, speaking, numerical skills, technological literacy and financial literacy for adults. Participants must be native or fluent English speakers. The Corona Public Library CALS program also offers services to English as a Second Language (ESL) learners through partnership with the Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) Adult School.

WELCOME NEW LEARNERS

Each learner is matched with a tutor who meets with them on a routine basis that fits both learner and tutor schedules. The program offers free resources to assist adults in achieving their individual literacy-related goals, including workbooks, online learning opportunities, special events and meetings with other learners and tutors. We strive to help adult learners realize they are not alone, but rather are part of a community of people like them.

• Join a free Tuesday night phonics class. (Currently on hiatus due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.)
• Receive free reading materials and workbooks.
• Participate in learner-oriented activities hosted by the Corona Public Library and California State Library.

Career Online High School: Corona Public Library, in partnership with the California State Library and Gale, part of Cengage Learning, is offering adults the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and career certificate online through Career Online High School.

Practical Money Skills: The site offers financial tutorials in budgeting, saving, financial institutions, credit, debt, identity theft and planning for life events.  Fun games and free materials are offered.
