The Ontario Widening at Lincoln project proposes street and traffic improvements along Ontario Avenue from Via Pacifica to Vicentia Avenue as well as improvements along Lincoln Avenue from Ontario Avenue to Othello Lane. The City's Strategic Plan specifically highlights the need for enhancements in this area to alleviate congestion and optimize traffic patterns.
The proposed street and traffic improvements entail widening the south side of Ontario Avenue between Lincoln Avenue and Conejo Street from four lanes to six lanes. The improvements will also incorporate ADA compliant sidewalks, curb ramps, streetlights, raised landscape medians, and dedicated bike lanes within the project limits. A traffic signal system is also proposed at the intersection of Othello Lane and Lincoln Avenue. The proposed improvements will reduce congestion, enhance traffic capacity, improve pedestrian mobility, and increase safety.
Project Updates
The project is currently in design (90% review stage) with completion of the design phase anticipated in Summer 2026. The City has initiated the Right of Way (ROW) phase which involves the appraisal, negotiation, and acquisition of the necessary easements and property needed to implement the proposed improvements. The ROW phase is anticipated to be completed by late 2026 / early 2027. Following the completion of the ROW phase the City will move forward with construction in early 2027.
Below is the latest conceptual rendering of the proposed widening improvements along Ontario Avenue. Please note that the rendering is subject to change as the final design progresses.
