May 1, 2024

Corona, CA – This afternoon, at approximately 1:49 PM, residents in Southern California experienced a light earthquake measuring 4.1 magnitude. The epicenter was located 9 km southwest of Corona, CA, with a depth of 2 km.

The City of Corona immediately responded to the seismic event by surveying the affected area to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and infrastructure. We are pleased to report that there has been no reported damage within the City of Corona at this time. However, our teams will continue to diligently evaluate and assess the situation to ensure ongoing safety.

This event serves as a reminder to our community that earthquakes can occur unexpectedly and anywhere in California. In such situations, it's crucial to adhere to best practices for earthquake safety, including the 'drop, cover, and hold on' protocol.

The City of Corona encourages the community to prioritize their safety by creating emergency kits, developing emergency plans, and educating themselves on proper safety measures during seismic events. For more information on earthquake preparedness, visit our website at www.CoronaCA.gov/Fire.
