2026 Corona City Council Election

The City of Corona invites qualified residents to consider serving their neighbors and shaping the future of our community. The nomination period for the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election will be open July 13 - August 7th, offering an exciting opportunity for civic-minded individuals to run for a seat on the Corona City Council.
City Council seats representing Districts 1, 4, and 5 are up for election this cycle. As a general law city governed by a five-member City Council, Corona depends on engaged, dedicated community members who are ready to step into a meaningful leadership role.
Election Overview
The General Municipal Election is scheduled for November 3,2026. City Council seats on the ballot include Districts 1, 4, and 5.
The nomination period opens July 13, 2026 and closes August 7, 2026. Prospective candidates must obtain and file nomination papers during this window.
Candidate Eligibility Requirements
To qualify as a candidate for the Corona City Council, individuals must meet all of the following requirements at the time nomination papers are issued:
• Be a citizen of the United States
• Be a registered voter and resident of the City ofCorona
• Reside in the district in which they are running
• Be 18 years of age or older
Candidates should also consult the applicable provisions of the California Elections Code for any additional eligibility requirements that may apply to their specific circumstances.
How to Get Started
Step 1: File a Statement of Intention
Before soliciting or receiving any campaign contributions, prospective candidates must file a Statement of Intention (Form 501) with the Office of the City Clerk.
Step 2: Schedule Your Appointment
All prospective candidates are required to schedule an appointment with the Office of the City Clerk to receive nomination papers. These papers must be issued in person — walk-ins are not accepted and papers cannot be downloaded online. Contact the City Clerk's office at (951) 736-2201 to schedule your appointment.
Step 3: File Nomination Papers
Nomination papers must be filed within the nomination period (July 13 – August 7, 2026). A filing fee of $25 is required. Fees for optional candidate statements are set by the Riverside County Registrar of Voters and will be communicated to candidates during the nomination process.
Please be aware that in limited circumstances, the filing period may be extended due to an incumbent's failure to file, as provided under the California ElectionsCode.
