Help Reduce Outdoor Water Use

From July 21 through July 25, we’re asking all Corona residents and businesses to temporarily reduce outdoor water use to help us manage a critical maintenance period. The Metropolitan Water District will undertake a non-routine inspection on a Feeder Pipeline at Lake Mathews, which delivers raw water to Corona’s surface water treatment plants. Although most inspections happen in winter, this mid-summer check is necessary to ensure system reliability and staff safety.
While this work is outside the City’s control, we are taking proactive steps to adjust and continue providing reliable service. Corona’s water system is dynamic and resilient, drawing from multiple sources including local groundwater and imported supplies. However, to complete the work, Metropolitan will limit water deliveries, reducing the amount of surface water available to us.
How You Can Help:
- Turn off sprinklers and irrigation systems
- Only hand-water when necessary, and use a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle
What to Expect:
You may notice temporary changes in the taste or smell of your tap water. This is normal and due to water being drawn from a different part of Lake Mathews. Rest assured—your drinking water remains safe and meets all state and federal quality standards.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we complete this important work. Together, we can ensure reliable service and keep Corona’s water system strong.
