Domestic Battery Leads to Homicide Investigation

Corona, CA – On September 25th, 2025, at 11:50 PM, Corona Police officers responded to a report of an assault inside a residence in the 1700 block of Wren Avenue, Corona.  After several attempts to make contact, officers were forced to enter the residence to ensure the victim’s safety.  Once inside, officers located a female victim, 52-year-old Avery King, of Corona, who had sustained multiple visible injuries.

At the scene, King declined medical transportation and elected not to pursue prosecution. Authorities identified the suspect as King’s boyfriend, 55-year-old Manuel Rivera of Corona. Rivera was arrested and booked on domestic violence charges, with bail enhanced to $500,000. An Emergency Protective Order was issued for the victim's protection.

Several hours later, after being unable to contact King, her family conducted a welfare check at her residence. Upon entry, they discovered her deceased in her home and immediately contacted 911.

The Corona Police Department’s Investigative Services Division responded and assumed the investigation, and due to the suspicious circumstances of the death, it is being investigated as a homicide.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Jason Goudy at (951) 739-4880 or at Jason.Goudy@CoronaCA.gov.
