ASSUALT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON SUSPECT SHOT BY POLICE
Corona, CA — On July 17, 2026, at approximately 6:28 a.m., Corona Police officers responded to the 1200 block of E. Parkridge Ave. in the City of Corona, regarding reports of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Callers reported an adult male subject had attacked an adult female who was walking in the area. The female was reportedly struck multiple times with a rock and the suspect was also observed armed with a knife.
An officer arrived quickly and contacted the suspect who was armed with a knife and refused to follow the officer’s directions. An officer-involved shooting occurred, and immediate life-saving efforts were provided; however, the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Corona Fire Department. The victim sustained visible injuries and was evaluated by medical personnel; no officers were injured. At this time, there is no known relationship between the suspect and the victim.
The decedent has been identified as 25-year-old Isaiah Maciel of Corona. Additional information will be released as the investigation allows. The Corona Police Department’s Investigative Services Division, the Riverside County Force Investigations Detail, and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office responded and are conducting investigations into the initial assault and the subsequent officer-involved shooting.
