COVID-19: Hear an update from our Mayor Jim Steiner

Post Date:05/29/2020 2:20 PM

Hear an update from our Mayor Jim Steiner!

It’s been over two months since we closed city facilities to the public. Corona residents have been staying home and doing their part to limit the spread of the virus since March 19th, when our Governor issued the Stay-at-Home order. Because of all of the collective efforts to safeguard our health, over the last several weeks, we have seen many great strides in expanding COVID-19 testing and reopening our economy.

On May 22nd, the state-approved Riverside County’s readiness to move to an accelerated Stage 2. Destination retail, dine-in restaurants, houses of worship, and hair salons are now opening. Additionally, as of May 26th, thanks to the Riverside County Public Health Department, our community can now be tested for COVID-19 in the comfort of our City at the Corona Senior Center.

I’m also happy to announce that on Monday, June 1st, we will be reopening Corona City Hall to the public. This reopening will also include other select city facilities, including the Police, Fire, and DWP buildings.

As we reopen facilities, all individuals will be encouraged to continue to practice social distancing, use face coverings in common areas, and to practice good hygiene, including hand-washing. As a customer, you will notice a few changes at City Hall and other facilities, including partitions, hand sanitizers, along with other precautions to help create a safe, healthy experience for you!

I am personally incredibly proud and thankful of our community members for your patience and hanging in there as we slowly move forward in our COVID-19 recovery. As we continue to move forward in the resilience roadmap, we expect to see more reopening directives issued in the coming weeks. As always, we encourage you to check out our website at for frequently asked questions, resources, and the latest updates!
