CORONA URGES VOLUNTARY COMPLIANCE OF STAY AT HOME ORDERS

Corona, CA– In response to Governor Newsom’s stay-at-home orders, the City of Corona has urged the public’s voluntary compliance to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep our community safe.

On Monday, April 27, at the request of Riverside County Office of County Counsel, Corona Police Department officers made contact with a reopened hair salon in Corona to provide the stay-at-home order and offered to connect the business with Economic Development staff assistance and information for government aid programs. Since then, voluntary compliance has not been obtained.

Reaffirming the City’s position that reopening local businesses, schools, and restaurants falls under state and county public health officials, the City of Corona continues to urge voluntary compliance and will not be taking legal action against the hair salon at this time. “We applaud the sacrifice and patience of local businesses to comply with current health orders and anxiously await the reopening of local businesses as soon and as safely possible,” said Mayor Jim Steiner.

“Governor Newsom has announced a four-stage plan to re-open businesses based on science, health, and data. Consistent with the City of Corona’s position to respect the state orders, we ask, and even implore, our local businesses to abide by the current mandates,” said Mayor Jim Steiner. “While our collective efforts to date are minimizing the negative impacts of the virus, the underlying health hazards of COVID-19 are very much still present in our community. The order intends to have all community members work together to stop the virus. Only together can we be successful.”
