COVID-19: Hear an update from our Police Chief, George Johnstone
On April 4, 2020, the Riverside County Public Health Officer issued an order requiring all persons to wear a face covering and prohibiting gatherings of any size. Our community needs to know that these orders are necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and they are lawful.
Our police officers are wearing face covers and are doing their part to slow the spread of the virus. We are asking our community’s assistance in doing the same. The Corona Police Department is seeking your voluntary compliance to wear a face covering and to not participate in gatherings of any size. The most critical time of this pandemic is approaching our community.
Our police officers will not be issuing citations to community members for forgetting a face cover, but you may receive a kind reminder of the County order. We ask our essential businesses to provide these reminders to their patrons for the safety of their team. Our Corona Police Department will continue to receive community concerns of public health violations through our email reporting system: PoliceWC@CoronaCA.gov. Continued violations could result in civil or criminal filings. Remember, the intent of this order is to have all community members work together to stop the virus. Only together can we be successful. Stay at home, practice physical distancing, and cover your face.
