Park Playgrounds & Amenities Closed: Stay Home, Save Lives

Post Date:04/01/2020 9:38 AM

As of March 31st at 3 p.m., the County of Riverside has 371 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 21 of these are within the City of Corona. These numbers are expected to grow exponentially and we are doing everything in our power to slow the spread.

In addition to current facility closures, all City park playgrounds, sport courts, and bathrooms are closed effective immediately, until further notice.

Based on current projections, the average doubling time for COVID-19 in Riverside County is 4.7 days. This means that if we had 371 cases on March 31st, we project we will have about 742 cases by April 5th.

Preventive measures, such as regular hand washing, staying at home, social distancing, and covering the face can all help to "flatten the curve" by increasing the doubling time.

The City of Corona is urging residents to comply with the statewide safer-at-home order to protect their own health and the health of their loved ones. Preventing the spread of the virus is in everyone’s best interest. Stay home, save lives. “Stay in place, maintain your space and cover your face”
