For Immediate Release
May 17, 2019

CORONA, CA – Proposition 68, the California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection and Outdoor Access for All Act of 2018, was approved by California voters on June 5, 2018. Among other efforts, the measure provides grant funding for the acquisition, development, and improvement of parks and recreation facilities. We think Corona’s very own City Park could use some improvement and we’d like to hear your ideas.

You are invited to join the City of Corona at City Park on Wednesday, May 29, 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., to discuss a variety of potential park improvements. Consider these possibilities:

  • Expand the park and build a senior/community center;
  • Replacement of the existing pool with a state-of-the-art aquatic center with competition pool, interactive splash play area, and giant slides;
  • A fitness trail;
  • New playground equipment;
  • Improved sports fields; and
  • Additional parking.

These are some ideas we’ve already heard. What are yours? Come out to the park and share them with the design team on May 29th.

City Park has been a staple of the Corona community since 1913. Residents have gathered there for more than 100 years for some of our most memorable activities. City Park still plays host to some of the biggest annual events in Corona including Cinco de Mayo and Day of the Child. We want to help restore her former glory and spruce her up some to ensure use by future generations. Remember, submitting the grant application doesn’t guarantee funding, but doing nothing only ensures nothing changes. This is an amazing opportunity to improve Corona’s oldest park and you can be a part of creating City Park’s future.
