Caltrans Alert: SR-142 (Carbon Canyon) Closed, Motorists using SR-91 as Alternate Route
STATE ROUTE 142 (CARBON CANYON) CLOSED DUE TO GAS-LINE DAMAGE
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting the public that State Route 142 - Carbon Canyon (SR-142) is closed due to gas-line damage while construction was occurring on the route. The incident occurred on Monday, May 13 at approximately 10:00 p.m. on SR-142 near Feldspar Drive. As a result, the route is closed from Old Carbon Canyon Road to Chino Hills Parkway. This route will be closed for an unknown duration.
Caltrans construction staff are working in conjunction with SoCal Gas and emergency responders to mitigate the gas leak. There are no injuries or evacuations in the area at this time.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as SR-91, SR-60 or I-10 to avoid the closure. Motorist are also advised to avoid using SR-71 to lessen traffic impacts in the area. Please use Caltrans’s Quickmap before you go. Once more information is available it will be released.
