Wildfire Preparedness Week: The Power of Being Prepared
In conjunction with Wildfire Preparedness Week, California's three largest energy companies: San Diego Gas & Electric Company, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and Southern California Edison, have announced their safety campaign The Power of Being Prepared. The purpose of this campaign is to inform communities about the possibility of power outages during times of increased wildfire danger.
In order to keep communities safe, local energy companies may need to turn off power during extreme weather conditions. This is called a Public Safety Power Shutoff. The Corona Fire Department encourages our residents to prepare an emergency plan in advance in the event your family is affected by a power shutoff. Click here to learn how to prepare for a Public Safety Power Shutoff.
If a Public Safety Power Shutoff is needed, your energy company will aim to send customer alerts, as well as provide ongoing updates through social media, local news outlets and their website.
