About the Project
The Alcoa Dike Project “Project” is a United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project in partnership with Orange County, located in the City of Corona, and the purpose of the Project is designed to protect adjacent businesses along Rincon Street from a 190-year flooding event. This phase of the Project consists of constructing 3 earthen embankment sections, which together will constitute the overall Alcoa Dike. The dike will be approximately 30 feet tall at its highest point relative to the existing grade and 5,500 feet long. A majority of the material to construct the dikes is at a borrow site approximately 2 miles away. Construction started in late December 2018 and is anticipated to be completed by Spring of 2020.
