ANIMAL CRUELTY INVESTIGATION UPDATE – 11 DOGS STILL IN NEED OF A HOME

CORONA, CAOn Wednesday, July 26, 2017 the arrest of a bank robbery suspect, Robert Bustamante Flores, resulted in an animal cruelty investigation in the City of Corona. That day 35 dogs were impounded from Flores’ home. After following up for several days, numerous other dogs were impounded bringing the total to 55 dogs. The animals were taken to the Corona Animal Shelter where they were fed, hydrated, and ultimately evaluated and provided the medical attention they desperately needed.

On Saturday, August 12, after a 14-day holding period, 13 of the dogs were made available for adoption. Staff and volunteers worked together to better socialize the remaining dogs. They were made available for adoption on an individual basis as they learned to trust human companionship. A115621

Many local rescues have graciously rescued some of these dogs. Last Call K9 rescued 17 dogs. Doggie Protected Services, Furever Pawz, and 2nd Chances have rescued two dogs each. Eastwood Ranch, a Lake Elsinore resident, and a Texas Roadhouse employee rescued one dog each.

There are currently 11 remaining dogs available at the shelter in need of a home. The Corona Animal Shelter hopes to find each one a loving family and is offering these dogs for a reduced price of $20 which includes spay/neuter. Identification microchipping is an additional cost of $5. For dogs adopted by City of Corona residents, there is a $15 licensing fee.

The Corona Animal Shelter is located at 1330 Magnolia Avenue in Corona and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. For more information, please contact the Corona Animal Shelter at 951-736-2309.
