CARJACKING SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER SHORT PURSUIT 

CORONA, CA– On January 9, 2019, at about 4:21 p.m., Corona Police responded to the 400 block of River Road regarding a carjacking. 

Upon arrival to the scene, officers learned that a 2016 Honda Accord had been carjacked from the owner who was standing near his vehicle.  The owner of the vehicle was not hurt during the confrontation, but a male bystander was assaulted and sustained minor injuries.  The suspect, described as a Hispanic male adult drove off in the vehicle in an unknown direction.  Suspect and vehicle descriptions were broadcasted to officers. 

At about 5:53 p.m. officers located the carjacked vehicle in the 200 block of E. Olive Street in Corona, attempted to stop the vehicle and a short pursuit ensued.  The pursuit ended in the 700 block of N. Main Street, when the suspect, identified as Eric Guzman, 20 years of Corona, collided with a tree, lost control and collided with two other vehicles.  The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Two adult females involved in the traffic collision were transported to local hospitals where they are in stable condition with varying injuries. Carjacking Suspect Arrested
