California Avenue Sewer Pipeline Project Update

Post Date:11/15/2018 4:00 PM

Work on the California Avenue Sewer Pipeline Project continues to move forward. The following schedule is planned for work on California Avenue through November 2018. There are no construction activities planned for the Thanksgiving Holiday or near retail businesses on Black Friday.

Mid-November: Final street paving and striping will begin about the 3rd week of November for the general area from Ontario Avenue to Foothill Parkway.  We anticipate being able to pave near the school during the week school is on vacation provided there are no construction delays or inclement weather. Paving is expected to require a number of days with striping to follow approximately one week later.  Expect traffic detours and delays during paving and striping.

There will be no additional planned construction in these areas once final paving and striping have been completed.

Night work on California Avenue will commence starting at Pico Street moving south during the second part of November.

About the California Avenue Sewer Pipeline Project

The California Avenue Sewer Pipeline Project will provide additional flow capacity to carry sewage from new development and the planned decommissioning of the City's Water Reclamation Facility #3 (WRF3).

The project will construct approximately 8,600 linear feet of new sewer pipeline and associated manholes along California Avenue. The majority of the sewer will be installed using traditional open cut methods. Sewer construction at major street crossings will be constructed using trenchless technology, such as bore and jack methods which installs the pipe between two installation pits. Trenchless construction will minimize traffic disruption at high volume intersections at Old Temescal Road, Ontario Avenue and Chase Drive.

Please be advised that traffic delays are to be expected. Plan accordingly by taking alternate routes and allowing more travel time for known traffic delays. The City of Corona appreciates your patience and support while we make these important infrastructure improvements.  We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
