DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESPONSE RESULTS IN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

CORONA, CA– On the evening of Nov. 6, 2018 at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Corona Police Department responded to a call regarding a domestic violence dispute in the 2600 block of Tundar Circle in Corona that resulted in an officer involved shooting.

Corona Dispatch initially received a call reporting possible gunshots, followed by an additional call of domestic violence involving an injured female and a possible male suspect with a gun, which initiated a Corona Police response including the Department’s armored rescue vehicle. When officers arrived on scene the injured female victim was located outside the residence

Upon arrival, officers positioned the rescue vehicle outside the residence and began communications with the suspect. During that period, an officer involved shooting occurred which resulted in the fatality of the suspect. The officer involved shooting is currently under investigation at this time. No officers were injured. A rifle was located with the suspect.

Upon the arrival of medical aid, paramedics determined that the female victim had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds, and she was transferred to a local hospital for treatment and is currently in critical condition.
