On Wednesday, August 15, 2018 a pair of Corona Department of Water and Power Water Operators discovered a young owl, stuck in a reclaim water basin during a routine site inspection.
Upon retrieving the animal from the water, the operators described the owl as weak and dazed. Concerned for the animal, the team decided to reach out to local wildlife rescue, Sunshine Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation for assistance. A Sunshine Haven volunteer by the name of Nellie Hatton, came to retrieve the animal and identified it as a young Great Horned Owl.
After much needed rest and a series of baths and care, the owl was able to be released back into the wild on Thursday.
A huge thank you to Nellie Hatton, Sunshine Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation, and our Water Operators, David Blanton and Jacob Foust for taking the time to make sure the owl got the care it needed.
