CORONA, CA-On Monday, June 18, 2018 at 3:27 p.m., the Corona Police Department responded to the 400 block of Roosevelt Street regarding a call of shots fired from inside a residence.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult males deceased inside. The investigation revealed that the son-in-law, later identified as Gregory Donald Franklin Jr., 41, of Corona, shot and killed his father-in-law, Edgar Morris Jones, 73, of Corona, after having a family dispute. Detectives indicated sometime following the dispute, Franklin was asked to leave the residence.

Franklin later returned to the home armed with a handgun. Upon entering the home, Franklin shot Jones multiple times before taking his own life. There were several other family members inside the home at the time of the incident, but they were not injured.

Members of the Trauma Intervention Program of Corona (TIP) were called to the scene to assist the family members with support and additional resources. TIP is a volunteer, non-profit, public benefit corporation serving the citizens of Corona.
