CORONA WELCOMES NEW ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
CORONA, CA– The City of Corona is proud to announce the addition of Michele Nissen as the new Assistant City Manager (ACM) for the City of Corona. Nissen joins Corona after seven years of service with the City of Eastvale, most notable as their City Manager.
“We are delighted to have Michele Nissen join the Corona team as our new Assistant City Manager," said City Manager Darrell Talbert. “Michele has a proven track record in community development, demonstrated by the success, growth, and major accomplishments in Eastvale. Her outstanding reputation and expertise in municipal government clearly made her the superior choice for Corona.”
Nissen’s years of service to the City of Eastvale date back to Eastvale’s incorporation and encompass the roles of Interim City Manager, Acting City Manager, Assistant City Manager, Public Information Officer, and Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission. Nissen holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and minor in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University as well as a Master of Public Administration from California Baptist University (CBU). She was the 2017 recipient of the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Boy Scouts of America as well as other awards for Outstanding Rising Administrator by the Inland Empire Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration, Presidential Award for Volunteerism, and was recently a featured alumna by CBU in Roundtable Magazine.
The recruitment process for the ACM position was a highly competitive, national recruitment process which was advertised across a wide array of job posting sites and gathered more than 140 applications, 23 of which were out-of-state candidates, demonstrating Corona’s national reach. Top candidates were interviewed in multiple panel interviews to determine the best fit for Corona, and Nissen came out on top.
“I have been a long-time admirer of Corona and of the innovative approach Corona has taken towards community engagement, transparency, and collaboration to name a few,” said Michele Nissen. “I am honored and excited to serve the wonderful City of Corona.” Nissen is a 17-year resident of the City of Eastvale where she currently resides with her husband Brian and their two children, Chris and Olivia.
Nissen will oversee economic development, communications, public relations, regional initiatives, as well as all major programs and projects as directed. Nissen’s first day of service with the City of Corona will be July 9, 2018. Please join us in welcoming her to the Circle City!
