CORONA, CA– On May 15, 2018 about 7:14 a.m. the Corona Police Department and the Corona Fire Department were dispatched to the West Corona Metrolink train station located at 155 Auto Center Drive in Corona regarding a subject being struck by an Amtrak train.
Corona Police officers arrived on scene within minutes of being dispatched and located an adult male on the track underneath the train. Corona Fire Department paramedics arrived soon after the officers and determined the subject was deceased.
Based on evidence obtained and witness statements, it was confirmed the adult male intentionally placed himself in front of the train as it was passing through the West Corona Metrolink train station.
The Riverside County Sheriff Coroner responded and determined the deceased person’s name to be Frank J. Valdez, a 32-year-old of Corona. The Riverside Sheriff Coroner notified the next of kin.
