Arson Investigation Results in Insurance Fraud Arrests

ARSON INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN INSURANCE FRAUD ARRESTS
CORONA, CA– A local business owner and a contractor face insurance fraud charges in connection with a 2014 arson fire in Corona.
On April 2, 2018, Armen Shaant Megerdichian, a resident of Winnetka, California was arrested after being arraigned on 12 counts of insurance fraud, one count of grand theft, and one count of committing multiple felonies involving fraud or embezzlement. The charges were the result of a suspected arson fire of his former business, the Parkridge Dental Spa located at 520 E. Parkridge Avenue in Corona. Megerdichian was arrested at the Riverside Hall of Justice in downtown Riverside. His bail was set at $600,000.
A third suspect Cornel Lucaci, resident of Corona, was previously arrested on one count of burglary and one count of arson in connection with the fire at Parkridge Dental Spa. Lucaci is currently in-custody awaiting trial.
These arrests are the result of a four-year long arson and insurance fraud investigation, conducted jointly between the Corona Fire Department, Corona Police Department, Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
