Upcoming Fire Season – Weed Abatement
To prepare for the upcoming fire season, the Corona Fire Department would like to remind residents and property owners about the City’s weed abatement program. The Corona Fire Department will begin “posting” for weed abatement season this month.
During the first week of April, Corona Fire Department personnel will survey the city in order to identify properties which may pose a fire hazard. Properties identified as a potential fire hazard will be posted with a pink “Notice to Clean Premises.”
If you receive a pink notice, you will be required to remove all weeds, grasses, shrubs or dead trees upon lots, parcels or alley ways of land in the City of Corona that pose a fire hazard. You will have 30 days to demonstrate compliance, as compliance inspections will begin in May.
This program is designed to keep the City fire-safe by ensuring that yards and larger land parcels are cleared of combustible weeds and debris. Please keep in mind that weed abatement is year-round in southern California and it is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure that their property is maintained in a “fire safe” condition to protect themselves and their neighbors around them.
If you have any questions, please contact Xente Baker at (951) 736-2257 or Xente.Baker@CoronaCA.gov. The Corona Fire Department appreciates your assistance in helping us keep the City free of fire hazards.
