Dogs from Animal Cruelty Investigation Available for Adoption

Animal Services & Enforcement Press Release

For Immediate Release
Case #17-6932

DOGS FROM ANIMAL CRUELTY INVESTIGATION AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

CORONA, CA– On Wednesday, July 26, 2017 the arrest of a bank robbery suspect resulted in an animal cruelty investigation in the City of Corona. As a result of the investigation, Animal Services & Enforcement have rescued a total of 47 dogs from the residence of suspect Robert Bustamante Flores. Criminal charges against Flores for the conditions these dogs were living in are pending.

The animals were taken to the Corona Animal Shelter where they were fed, hydrated, and ultimately evaluated and provided the medical attention they desperately needed.

Due to a 14-day holding period, the dogs have not yet been made available to the public for adoption, however as of Saturday, August 12, 2017, 13 of the 47 dogs will be available for adoption at the shelter, for a reduced price of $20 which includes spay/neuter. Identification microchipping is an additional cost of $5.00. For dogs adopted by City of Corona residents, there is a $15.00 licensing fee.

Staff and volunteers are working to better socialize the dogs not yet released for adoption. They will be eligible for adoption on an individual basis as they learn to trust human companionship more.

“These animals are in dire need of patient and loving families,” said Animal Control Supervisor Daniel Pacheco. “We hope our adoption event this Saturday will find a forever home for each of them.”

The Corona Animal Shelter is located at 1330 Magnolia Avenue in Corona and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. For more information, please contact the Corona Animal Shelter at 951-736-2309.
