Fatal Traffic Collision

FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION
CORONA, CA–On Friday, February 2, 2018 at 5:36 p.m., the Corona Police Department and Corona Fire Department responded to a traffic collision in the 900 block of Mathews Place involving a three-year-old child struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, Corona Fire Paramedics transported the child to a local hospital where the child was pronounced deceased.
Based on witness statements, the child was riding a bicycle on Mathews Place when a green Mazda SUV and the child collided. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has identified the victim and notified the parents. The Corona Police Department's Collision Response Team is handling the investigation. At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor and there have been no arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
