Corona Resident Arrested for Assault Involving Serious Injuries

CORONA RESIDENT ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT INVOLVING SERIOUS INJURIES
CORONA, CA- On Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, Francisco Ramirez, a Corona resident, was arrested in the 700 block of Springwood Street in Corona for investigation of Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
At about 4:26 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, witnesses in the area of the 1600 block of Via Santiago called 9-1-1 and reported a person being assaulted. Officers arrived on scene within four minutes of the 9-1-1 call and located the victim, a 26-year-old male Corona resident, who had life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled before officers arrived. The victim suffered serious internal injuries and trauma to his face and head during this attack and was transported to a local trauma center for treatment where his condition remains extremely critical. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time.
Investigation is ongoing and details of what led to the assault and Ramirez’ arrest are not available for release at this time. No other suspects are outstanding.
Ramirez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in downtown Riverside on Dec. 6, 2017, for the charge of attempted murder, bail is set at $1 million dollars.
